The Jefferson Parish Regional DNA Laboratory is a state of the art facility offering forensic DNA profiling to Jefferson Parish Agencies. In addition, the lab services neighboring law enforcement organizations and defense counsel for a nominal fee.

Typical samples submitted from cases involving homicides, sexual assaults, burglaries, missing persons, wrongful deaths and cold cases include:

Vaginal swabs
Semen stained evidence
Sweatband from caps
Bloodstain evidence
Nail clippings / scrapings
Hair roots
Cigarette butts / chewing gum
Saliva from ski masks
Skeletal remains
Saliva from envelopes / stamps

Case Submission Instructions

No bulk evidence without prior approval
Evidence must be air dried and properly packaged prior to submission
Evidence must be labeled with a sample description and sample source
A completed Evidence Submission Form must accompany the case
Submit a brief synopsis of the case
Evidence must be submitted via hand delivery or overnight courier
